Shri Sushant Mahapatra-the first Managing Trustee of Shree Jagannath Temple Trust,Bengaluru and retired Director General of Police ,Govt.of Karnataka breathed his last in Bengaluru on the 17th July 2020 after a brief illness.

Born  on the 25th December 1956,he passed Higher Secondary exam from Sainik School,Bhubaneswar and post graduation in Political Science from Utkal University in 1978.Joined I.P.S. in 1979 and was allotted to Karnataka Cadre. Sushantbabu also served in Odisha(1986-89) as S.P.(Vigilance,North Zone,Sambalpur) and Commandant,1st Battalion,Charbatia.Back to his parent cadre,he served as AIG(Crime) ,AIG(Law) and as IG,he headed the Economic Offences,C.I.D. and Cyber crime departments.As additional Director General,he headed the Civil Rights Enforcement department,Research and restructuring wings among other important assignments.His last posting was Director General of Police and Chairman,Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.He  had thus handled  varied and challenging assignments in his professional career spanning 36 years.

He was associated with many Cultural and welfare organisations promoted by Odiya residents of Bengaluru.He was  the President of Orissa Cultural Association till his death.

Late Sushant Babu is remembered for his monumental contribution to Shree Jagannath Temple as its first Managing Trustee(2007-18).The Trustees paid rich tributes to Sushantbabu at the condolence meeting of the Trust  held on the 9th August 2020 at the Temple precincts .Known for his   natural and ungrudging penchant to help the deserving and needy, he was endowed with an amiable and pleasant disposition.
